Personally, I think that the Olympics are a complete farce. Long gone are the days when the athletes competed for something pure and unadulterated. Now, the olympics are just a spectacle for the sake of selling everything from automobiles to soft drinks. The coverage is strictly limited to those sports that can guarantee advertising commitments and we're less likely to see any sport in which the US doesn't have an athlete capable of winning a medal. The greed and materialism that signifies these last three or four olympic gatherings is off putting and I for one won't watch.
