This Guy will most likely suffer some serious backlash over the course of the next few years, especially if the Chicago Cubs don't return post-haste to the post-season.
Baseball fans are rather prone to vulgarity... Cubs fans in particular are a scurrilous lot on a normal day much less on a day after their team has been booted out of contention for a world series. Can you for one moment, imagine if you suddenly became the ass-end of every joke, every jibe, every cutdown in an entire city? For people who care little for sports, it would be akin to you making a mistake in your everyday life, having some people see it and hound you night and day for it, not to mention, sending TV crews, newspaper reporters and other assorted miscreants to your doorstep in search of a story. To make matters worse, the Governor of another state, upon hearing of your misdeed, offers you asylum because your misdeed helped that states particular cause.
I'm a fan of baseball. I would have enjoyed a World Series between the two most hapless teams in the major leagues. In my humble opinion, the odds of Boston meeting Chicago in a world series were astronomical but incredibly attractive for someone like me. I believe that had this matchup happened, the skies would have opened up, the Arch Angel Michael would have blown his trumpet and all four horses of the apocalypse would have ridden their pest-ridden steeds across the four lands. It would have been a sight to see indeed. Well, there is always next year.
