I'm taking off shortly for a Big Trip East ™ The only downside is that I'll miss some rather interesting gatherings and miss out wishing a good friend well on her birthday. The good news is that I'm going to enjoy this trip. Last night's volleyball game was beyond description. We played like a team that's been together for years, everyone contributing and everyone solidly displaying the basic skills that spell the difference between success and failure. In spite of being short one woman, we crushed the number one team in our league in three straight sets (11-5, 11-8, 11-4). I found out yesterday morning that I have a hairline fracture that runs along the entire length of my Proximal Metatarsal on my right foot. I know when it happened... almost 5 months ago in Hawaii skimboarding in Kehei. Blew it out and limped for the last two days, almost ruining a relatively good vacation. Anyway, I really enjoy playing with these people as they are all really good players (not to mention the girls are all really attractive!) and take it seriously. I can't begin to express how much better playing volleyball is when you play with people who have played on a competitive level at some point in there lives. I've met plenty of people in the past who think they are good but rarely does the reality match up with the fantasy. Yeah, I'm a volleyball snob.
