Monkey Diaries Archive

I watched a great DVD last night. Animal Factory stars Edward Furlong and Willem Dafoe as convicts who develop an interesting friendship while in prison. Mickey Rourke, Steve Buscemi, Tom Arnold, and John Heard also play prominent parts in this story, penned by my favorite real-life bank robber, Edward Bunker. For those of you who don't know Eddie Bunker, his movie Straight Time won 1st Prize in the San Mateo Video Festival in 1979. He was the youngest person (at the time) to ever go to San Quentin. And at one time, he was on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List. Some of you may recognize Bunker for playing Mr. Blue in Quentin Tarantino's cult classic (and my all-time favorite film) Reservoir Dogs. Bunker also wrote an autobiographical book entitled, Dog Eat Dog.Tarantino counts this novel among his favorites. If you ever get a chance to catch anything written by Bunker, do yourself a favor and give it a try. On another note...My favorite baseball team, the San Diego Padres got off to a slow start, losing a heartbreaker to the San Francisco Giants.
