I'm just not getting the hits that I used to get. There was a time, in the not too distant past, when I received hundreds of hits per day as opposed the the hundreds of hits I get per month now. Mostly because more than a few of my blog friends have moved on to fixate on other things like, well, life. I must admit that this mass exodus of loyal readers of MITH began around the time I started working again. The fact that now I post about as frequently as I go to church probably has something to do with this whole sorry fading into oblivion thing. Oh well, maybe I'll find that creative spark again. On a brighter note, Mientje and I just watched the new Sam Mendes/Tom Hanks film, Road to Perdition. Based on a graphic novel of the same name, the story details the flight of a father and son from a gang of Irish mobsters. The movie was well made (Mendes, in case you don't recognize the name, directed American Beauty) and brought to light something that I believe to be infinitely true: there are actors and there are stars. Tom Hanks is an actor while say, Michael Douglas, is a star. While an actor can also be a star, like Tom Hanks, a star is rarely ever an actor... do you understand that? It makes sense to me anyway and since I make the rules up around here... you get the idea. My younger brother is getting married next month. My older brother has been married for some 15 or so years, has two kids and is a Police Officer down in San Diego. So that leaves me as the odd man out. There was a time, many years ago, when all I wanted was to be married and raise a family. But a funny thing on the way to the alter... I stopped feeling anything akin to matrimonial material right at about the same time as I figured out that marriage doesn't necessarily make you complete and it definitely doesn't mean forever with most people.
