And She Danced The last of the sun's rays fall upon the curve of her neck and nothing else matters to me. She smiles in that way that still drives me crazy and begins swaying in the breeze, on the rooftop, above the city, away from the trouble that had taken up residence in our lives. There are still reasons to be happy I think to myself. She stretches her arms out like she's about to take flight and for a moment, I believe it's possible. She dances to a secret song playing inside her head but I can hear the music with my eyes. She is a lyric in motion, a note held high and long, a tune hummed in the quiet of dusk. Her skirt spreads out around her as she twirls, the fading golden shafts of light illuminating her, caressing her, bathing her, making me want her all the more. The vision fades, the images on the screen disappear, replaced by the blank canvas of the wall that had projected the video of that last day we spent together. I reach for the replay button, not sure why only knowing that I need to see it again. When we were young... and she danced.
