North Beach Festival
This yearly festival took place this past weekend in, coincidentally enough, North Beach. Predominantly a celebration of the diverse artistic and culinary experiences that can be had in this landmark San Francisco neighborhood, it is now, alas, a big ass drunken orgy attended by hoochies and frat boys. I usually bail on all such festivals that remind me of the worst aspects of my college experience but I was meeting my GF for a shopping excursion downtown and that's where we met. I'll only admit that it was entertaining from a people watching perspective. Watching the hoochies parlay an appropriately timed sashay into an evening spent knee-deep in some vile bodily fluid can be entertaining if viewed with the same detached attention one would expend in encountering a traffic accident in which someone is strewn along miles of macadam.
In any event, it provided me an opportunity to snap some more pics. The image above is the original. The image below is what it became after about forty minutes under the misguided knowhow I possess in Photoshop. Yes, I know. I am not the best Photoshop artist to ever walk down the pike, but the final print (Epson photo print on watercolor parchment) turned out quite lovely. If I had any kind of ability whatsoever, say that of my friend Moe who is a talented designer and all around artistic talent, I might have done something infinitely better. But, I'm happy with it and it makes a great addition to my burgeoning collection of bad art.
Needless to say, I'm easily impressed by my own ability. Of course, that may be due to my almost childlike wonder whenever I can ever do do anything more difficult than converting a .PSD file into a .JPG. I'd like to take a class in Photoshop or hell, art in general but for now, I'm pretty satisfied. If I took a class, I'd have very little excuse for my piss poor ability.
