$116 trillion is a lot of money. Never mind that collecting any award from the company run by Osama bin Laden's family is about as likely as Osama hugging a Jew. No, the thing that truly baffles me about this lawsuit is the obvious greed here. Yeah, okay, the families are making a statement against terrorism & Al Qaeda, blah blah yada yada... Clearly if a statement is what they wanted to make, a statement through proper channels is what they would have done. No, this is about pure, unadulterated greed. Maybe not by the families themselves but by some lawyers who have convinced the families of those unfortunate victims of the Sept. 11 that they should seek civil restitution.
What's even more baffling is that some of those seeking restitution are the families of the firefighters... Let me see, so if there is a fire or some other disaster in say, San Francisco and in the course of DOING THERE FUCKING JOBS some firefighters get hurt or are killed, then the families have the right to sue the those responsible for the fire or disaster? That's just plain ridiculous... don't get me wrong, I think what the firefighters did was valiant but let me restate the obvious, THEY WERE FUCKING DOING THERE JOB! That's what they get paid for and granted, they should get paid more, but they new the job was dangerous when they took it (to borrow a phrase from Super Chicken).
Being a lawyer was once considered an admirable occupation (one that I considered pursuing at one time) but whomever is responsible for this particular suit is the very reason why most people look upon lawyers with contempt these days...
